양쪽 윗눈꺼풀 수술을 받은 44명의 한쪽에는 끝이 뭉툭한 바늘, 다른 쪽에는 뾰족한 바늘로 마취한 무작위 시험에서 통증 점수(0~10)는 4.64 대 5.48로 뭉툭한 바늘 쪽이 낮았고(P=.002), 멍·혈종은 뾰족한 바늘 쪽에서만 11명(25%)에게 생겼습니다[1]. 40명을 대상으로 한 교차 시험에서는 에피네프린을 섞은 리도카인이 펠리프레신을 섞은 프릴로카인보다 덜 아팠습니다(p=0.036)[2]. 다만 세 시험 모두 40~60명 규모입니다[1][2][3].
